You may be familiar with the principles of family-centred care, but how well are you translating the theory into practice? This session will look at how the theory underpinning the strengths-based approach, relationships, evidence-informed decision making, the `F Words' of disability, routines-based interventions and the collaborative assessment steering wheel can be integrated into your clinical practice.
This session is relevant to students and paediatric physiotherapists in hospital and community settings who would like to reflect on and improve their ability to provide family-centred care at the individual and health service level.
Alice Hill graduated from La Trobe University in 2005 and has worked as a Physiotherapist in the community and private practice settings and as a Project Manager at the Royal Children's Hospital in consumer engagement and patient education. Currently, she works as a Lecturer in the Physiotherapy Department at La Trobe University in addition to Little Movers Physiotherapy. She is passionate about working collaboratively with families to integrate therapy into daily routines to maximise the child's participation.
