Since he began working at the Epworth Hospital 20 years ago, he has developed a program to teach advanced gait and running skills to people with neurological injuries. Since that time he has been a Post-doctoral Research Fellow focusing on the assessment, classification and treatment of mobility limitations following traumatic brain injury.

Gavin was awarded Fellowship to the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2011. He has over 70 peer-reviewed journal publications and over 100 international and national conference presentations. He was also involved in the development of a new classification system for Paralympic athletics which was implemented at the London Paralympics. Gavin currently holds a NHMRC TRIP fellowship at the University of Melbourne.

Ettie Ben-Shabat, PhD, MAPT (Neurological Physiotherapy), B App Sci (Physiotherapy)

Before diving into neuroscience Ettie was considered to be a skilled clinician. Neuroscience allows her to understand why patients present the way they do. It may not sound like much but it changed the way Ettie treats her patients. Ettie is a physiotherapist working with neurological injuries since 1996 and a neuroscientist since 2003. She also teaches clinicians how to use neuroscience in their clinical practice. Ettie works as a senior physiotherapist and researcher at Alfred Health where she is involved in several research projects in the area of spasticity.
