Fiona will be sharing insights into the emerging field of mobile physiotherapy, including how and why early discharge home can achieve superior outcomes with less intervention. She will highlight specific examples of psychosocial benefits experienced by clients, who are empowered by the choice to continue their rehabilitation in their own space. She will also discuss the pros, cons, opportunities and limitations in home based physiotherapy, and it can assist to deliver a more efficient, effective and financially responsible system.
Having worked as a Physiotherapist in private practice, hospitals, and as a clinical Pilates instructor, Personal Trainer, and older adults group fitness instructor, Fiona has treated a wide variety of clientele with a diversity of ailments, needs and social backgrounds. She saw an niche market in the domiciliary physiotherapy field and in 2010 set out to create Own Body Mobile Physiotherapy. Own Body has grown to a team of over 20 physiotherapists providing mobile physiotherapy services to clients across Victoria, and is currently expanding interstate.
Fiona is also the Master Trainer for Gymstick for Older Adults, and has presented at numerous fitness and aged care conferences.
