  • Overview

Running injuries are very common with injury rates reported between 30-75% for runners each year. These injuries can often be debilitating and frustrating for many recreational, amateur and elite athletes. Managing these injuries can be just as frustrating and challenging for the clinicians involved in their management. This lecture aims to explore and discuss a number of biomechanical factors of running technique that may positively or negatively influence loading during running. A variety of assessment and treatment strategies will be discussed for clinicians to consider as part of their management of running athletes. This will include an area of significant growth in the running, research and clinical environment which is gait retraining.
