Lecture recording

This recording was filmed at a Physiotherapy Business group lecture which was held on 18 March 2015 and covers consumer based need for Private Health Insurance.

When Medibank asked consumers "what do you value most in your cover?" physiotherapy was highly valued. 2% of Medibank members consume 35% of all hospital and medical expenditure and 70% of this group have underlying chronic disease.

Medibank has adopted an integrated care approach and the objectives include:
- Reducing hospital admissions by 25%
- Improving the experience of care (patient surveys, provider feedback)
- Improving population health (clinical markers, biometrics, smoking)
- Improving health system utilisation (bed days, ED presentations, re-admissions)

Medibank is looking to create a healthcare system for the future, with a focus on primary care as the central point. Medibank will co-ordinate care for high needs patients. It will seek to fund for health outcomes rather than activities.
