PEDro, the Physiotherapy Evidence Database, has designed the Evidence-Based Physiotherapy Practice Level 3 (EBP Level 3) course to meet the Milestone 3 Highly Developed evidence-based practice (EBP) sections of the Scholar role, APA Physiotherapy Career Pathway Competence Framework v7.1.

 

Certificate

On completion of course content in Modules 1 - 4 you will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

There are two optional assessments (Module 3 and Module 4) which you may choose to undertake. These are submitted to the APA and assessed by PEDro. On successful completion of both assessments, APA will provide a Certificate of Completion. There is an additional fee for each assessment.

Learning Outcomes

The Scholar key enabling competencies are indicated in italics, with the intended learning outcomes listed below each.

At the completion of the EBP Level 3 course you will be able to:

 

6.2.4 Plan and deliver education activities

  • Choose appropriate content, teaching format, and strategies tailored to a specific educational context

 

6.3.1 Recognise practice uncertainty and knowledge gaps and generate focused questions that address them

  • Design and implement processes in the workplace for recording and prioritising questions of importance to the area of practice.

 

6.3.2 Identify and select relevant pre-appraised resources and original research

  • Coach others to find and select sources of evidence for a given practice-related question

 

6.3.3 Critically evaluate the integrity, reliability, and applicability of health-related research and literature

  • Interpret study findings in the context of uncertainty, including a discussion and critique of their relevance to professional practice
  • Critically evaluate the integrity, reliability, and applicability of health-related research and literature
  • Coach other health professionals to use critical appraisal frameworks to evaluate common study designs

 

6.3.4 Integrate evidence into decision-making in their practice

  • Demonstrate the use of an integrated model of decision-making that combines best evidence, available resources, and clinical expertise in the context of clients’ specific situation, experience, expectations, values and preferences.

 

6.4.1 Demonstrate an understanding of the scientific principles of research and scholarly inquiry and the role of research evidence in health care

  • Apply the principles of research and scholarly inquiry to contribute to a scholarly investigation or the dissemination of research findings in their area of practice
