Achilles tendon pain is challenging to manage. This lecture will cover the latest research in the diagnosis of tendinopathy, the role of strength training for Achilles tendinopathy and the role of central nervous system drivers to the condition with clear tips for clinicians.
Dr. Myles Murphy, MACP, is a post-doctoral research fellow with a special interest in the use of neuroscience interventions in the management of lower-limb pain and injury to increase physical performance. Dr. Murphy completed his PhD in tendinopathy at The University of Notre Dame Australia, which was given an academy award by the British Journal of Sports Medicine and according to ExpertScape he is in the top 0.3% of published tendinopathy researchers worldwide. Dr. Murphy has over 40 publications, and is currently undertaking research into injury with numerous industry collaborators such as the Western Australian Police Force, Perth Wildcats and West Coast Eagles. Dr. Murphy is a fellow of the Australian Sports Medicine Federation, a titled Sport and Exercise physiotherapist, has previously worked with elite sporting teams and still consults within a large, multi-disciplinary Sports Medicine clinic (SportsMed Subiaco).
