The majority of patients in an aged care inpatient rehabilitation ward have fallen in the past. The information contained in this lecture will help with interventions pertaining this kind of patients.

 

Presenter

Professor Cathie Sherrington is a Professorial Research Fellow and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Senior Research Fellow at the Sydney School of Public Health. She also leads the ageing and physical disability research group at The University of Sydney. Prior to completing her postgraduate studies in public health, Cathie was a physiotherapist in aged care and rehabilitation settings.

Cathie’s research is focussed on falls prevention and exercise interventions in older people and those with disability. She has authored 190 journal articles, been a chief investigator on NHMRC grants and currently supervises five PhD candidates. In addition, she was one of the founders of the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro).
