Approximately 56% of people with MS will experience a fall in any 3-month period. Causing a significant risk of injury, loss of confidence and function to the individual as well as potential financial implications to the health service. With structural and functional changes to the central nervous system at diagnosis there can be a complex impairment presentation. Research has shown that the mildly impaired can actually have significant non-motor changes including central vestibular dysfunction very early on. While the more physically impaired will struggle with weakness, saving reactions and postural control. Throughout the trajectory many people with MS struggle with heat sensitivity and neuromuscular fatigue significantly impacting falls risks and rates. This webinar will cover how to effectively reduce falls risk and falls in MS throughout the trajectory.
