ASSESSING FITNESS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: HOW TO GET BETTER COMPLIANCE FROM YOUR PATIENTS
Presenter: Coombes JS
The relationship between physical activity levels and cardiorespiratory
fitness is not strong, indicating that these are two different constructs.
Assessing the physical activity levels of clients has been made easier with
wrist worn personal devices and smart phone applications. Measuring
fitness levels has also been revolutionised with the use of non-exercise
fitness tests based on algorithms from large studies with objectively
measured cardiorespiratory fitness values. This presentation will discuss
the strengths and limitations of these approaches and how they may be
used to improve the physical activity and fitness levels of your patients.
Key Practice Points:
• Participants will be given knowledge on the use and effectiveness of
devices and applications to assess the physical activity and fitness levels
of their clients
