Telehealth is becoming an increasingly popular tool for physiotherapists globally. This lecture will provide an overview on using telehealth with the neurological client, including advice and examples on how to modify assessments, measure improvements and important safety considerations during performance of interventions.
Denis Giguere, APAM, graduated from UQ with a Bachelors of Physiotherapy in 2013 and has worked in both community and inpatient rehabilitation since then. He completed a Graduate Certificate of Rehabilitation from ACU in 2018. For the last 18 months, he has been a full-time clinical educator in the student led Neurological, Ageing and Balance clinic at UQ, and is currently the acting Physiotherapy Clinics Manager. Denis has a special interest in working with clients with neurological conditions and was part of the APA’s Neurology Special Interest Group QLD branch for 4 years, coordinating lecture nights for the previous 3 years. Prior to 2020, he had no experience with telerehabilitation and was then part of a rapid telehealth service rollout during the COVID 19 lockdown in March of 2020, with the added complication of continuing to provide neurological Physiotherapy placements solely via telehealth.
