Exercise is the cornerstone of physiotherapy management of patients with knee osteoarthritis, and is recommended in numerous clinical guidelines as a first-line treatment option. There is considerable evidence attesting to the beneficial effects of exercise and other rehabilitation strategies for improving pain and physical function in people with knee osteoarthritis. This webinar will briefly review the lastest evidence in this area.

 

Presenter Bio

Associate Professor Rana Hinman is a physiotherapist at the Centre for Health Exercise & Sports Medicine within the Department of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne. Her area of research is knee osteoarthritis (OA), in particular, the evaluation of conservative non-drug treatments for this condition and conduct of randomised controlled trials, as well as evaluation of biomechanical risk factors associated with knee OA. She has a large body of peer-reviewed papers and has received over $4million of research funding for her work, including both NHMRC and ARC support.
