This lecture will provide of an overview of the management of post exertional malaise in the context of Long COVID. Differential diagnoses, tailored exercise prescription and self-management strategies, and available patient and therapist resources will be discussed.

 

Presenter

Jack Reeves is a Physiotherapist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital currently working between pulmonary rehabilitation and the respiratory ward. Jack has had many COVID-related roles during the course of the pandemic. He worked at Newmarch House, the site of one of the first significant COVID outbreaks in Australia; has managed acute patients in the COVID Intensive Care Unit and COVID respiratory ward; managed those in mandatory hotel isolation as part of an Allied Health Support Team; conducted PCR testing for incoming passengers at the domestic and international airport as well as in the community through testing clinics; has provided vaccinations for the community during the NSW lockdown; and has more recently worked as a physiotherapist in a Post-COVID Respiratory Clinic in addition to treating post-COVID patients in pulmonary rehabilitation. Jack is currently undertaking a PhD through The University of Sydney looking at the effectiveness of Post-COVID telerehabilitation for people with persistent respiratory sequelae post-COVID infection.
