Osteosarcopenia is the presence of osteopenia/osteoporosis and sarcopenia. What are the risk factors, signs and symptoms, How does it effect our clients and what should we do as Physiotherapists?

Presenter

Hannanja van der Veer, MACP is an APA Titled Gerontological Physiotherapist and the APA Gerontology Chair for Tasmania (since 2024). Graduating in the Netherlands in 1996, she worked in the Netherlands and the UK before settling in Tasmania in 2008. Hannanja currently specializes in domiciliary care and a slow-stream inpatient older persons' rehab unit. Over the past seven years in this setting, she has pioneered the application of a 'frailty lens' to assessment and treatment—delivering holistic, multidisciplinary care for clients navigating dementia, cognitive impairment, mental health challenges, and functional decline.
