This Masterclass includes FMRI and neurophysiological evidence on the effect of acupuncture in modulating lumbar pain & associated radiculopathic symptoms. Relevant landmark RCTs will be presented. Expert clinicians will apply Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Integrative Acupuncture (IA) clinical reasoning on differential diagnoses and thus formulate interventions.
Paula Raymond-Yacoub, APAM, has been studying and practicing acupuncture for over 30 years. She has trained in China as well as Japan with some of Japan’s leading experts. In her Master’s in Clinical Practice (WSU) she incorporated aspects of oriental medicine applicable to the treatment of Torture and Trauma Survivors into her major thesis. She was a founding member of the Australian Society of Acupuncture Physiotherapists as well as being instrumental in the formation of the ADNG. She has taught Manual Therapists the use of Integrative Acupuncture (IA) not simply for pain modulation, instead how to address deeper systemic drivers of pain and movement dysfunction. Her approach looks at the biopsychosocial elements reflected in autonomic nervous system disregulation and the use of IA to assist in patient’s wholistic management.
