You must complete Part B first. Joining details for the Part C live virtual session will not be available until Part B is completed. It may take up to two hours for completion of Part B to register on the system. 

 

Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 - Course summary

Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 aims to improve your knowledge and skills relevant to the physiotherapy assessment and treatment of common conditions of older people. It takes an in-depth look at the ageing process, chronic disease management, pharmacology and pain management, delirium, dementia and depression, falls and balance, strategies to optimise physical function and use of outcome measures.

 

Part C - live virtual session

This live virtual session is Part C of the virtual delivery option for the Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 course. You must attend a live virtual session in order to complete the Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 course.

This live virtual session is scheduled to start at 7.30pm AEST (SA/NT – 7.00pm; WA – 5.30pm)

 

Two ways to complete the course: blended or virtual

Learners have two ways of undertaking Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1:

  • Blended: online self-paced (Part A) and attending a face-to-face classroom course (Parts B & C
    or
  • Wholly virtual: online self-paced (Parts A & B) and live virtual session (Part C)

Important note: if you have completed or wish to undertake the face-to-face classroom course, you are not required to complete the online Part B or Part C.

Wholly virtual pre-requisites and progress: Part A must be successfully completed before you progress to Part BPart B must be successfully completed before you progress to Part C.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1- Part C, you will be able to:

  • Describe the complexity of a range of conditions affecting older adults, and their impact on function
  • Identify the physiotherapist’s role in providing care to older adults across a range of contexts
  • Recognize the need to adapt physiotherapy interventions to meet the changing needs of older adults over time, and how to appropriately use outcome measures to determine treatment efficacy

  • Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 - Part A (available through cpd4physios)
  • Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 - Part B (available through cpd4physios)
