'At each appointment my pelvic floor strength was assessed. Every week I got worse and more upset. I was discharged because the physios didn’t know how to help me.'
This story was recently posted on Jeannie Di Bon’s (EDS/HSD Movement Therapist, Author and Podcaster) Facebook page and from the ensuing comments it was obvious that she was not alone in her experience with managing hypermobility associated pelvic floor dysfunction. Research states that hypermobility is relatively common and pelvic floor dysfunction with hypermobility is very common. Pelvic floor dysfunction with hypermobility is often not about weakness, nor is it unique to adults. Paediatric bladder urgency and enuresis are most frequently reported along with constipation. This lecture explores recognizing, assessing and managing pelvic health dysfunction where hypermobility is the driver – it’s about making pelvic health heroes for the hypermobile population.
