Lecture objectives:
Danielle Byrne is a neurosciences OT having both worked here in Australia and the UK where she started to specialise in neurosciences. She has an interest in research having completed a Masters in Clinical Rehabilitation (Neuro OT) and is currently involved in x2 research projects (developing a sensory screen in upper limb for post stroke patients in the acute setting with the SENSe team and the UPLIFT trial with Melbourne Uni). The last year has taken a different course having obtained the Cognitive Clinical Lead role at Monash Health, aligning well with her Neurosciences background. Danielle is an expert in delirium and dementia and provides education to nursing, medical and allied health professionals. Danielle believes that the non-pharmacological strategies that we advocate for aligns strongly to the core values of OT- promoting meaningful activities in order to successfully manage the symptoms of delirium and dementia.
