Sexuality has long been an overlooked aspect of rehabilitation. Multiple studies show that clients report sexuality to be as important as prior to their injury/ illness but is often not addressed as a routine part of rehabilitation.

By the end of this webinar you will be able to:

  • Address sexuality as part of routine screening and initial assessment
  • Understand common sexuality concerns following SCI and neurological injury/ illness 
  • Identify a range of interventions available to support sexuality concerns 
  • Develop a broad understanding of the role psychosexual therapy as a member of the multidisciplinary team

 

Presenter

Candice Care-Unger is an award-winning clinician-researcher, specialist rehabilitation social worker and clinical psychosexual therapist, having worked in hospital and community rehabilitation settings since 2006 across Australia, Scotland, and New York. She currently serves as the NSW Branch President of the Society of Australian Sexologists (SAS), teaches at the University of Sydney in the Sexual Health and Reproduction post graduate program, and is the director of Care Rehab a specialist social work and psychosexual therapy service provider providing virtual services across Australia and New Zealand. www.carerehab.com.au

 
Candice has a special interest in acquired disability and neurological injuries, ensuring sexuality is comprehensively addressed as part of recovery, community integration and addressing quality of life and mental health outcomes.
