Beyond the "Physical" in Therapy: An Integrative, Psychosocial Model for Addressing Sexual Issues in Pelvic Floor Practice
Physiotherapists address not only physical aspects of PF dysfunction, but psychosocial and sexual concerns that arise. This lecture style course will cover the basics of sexual function and dysfunction. The course identifies & addresses personal, dynamic, and social issues that may affect couples who are unable to engage in sexual intercourse, with particular attention paid to sexual expectations in traditional societies. Finally, an integrative mindful approach to addressing sexual pain and anxiety is introduced.
