During this presentation, common bowel and bladder issues affecting patients with MS will be discussed. The presenter will discuss a case of an adult patient with MS, including symptomology, medical testing, and medications, and physiotherapy treatments needed to decrease bowel and bladder dysfunction. Current research will be discussed, and participants will learn how to apply current research to this patient population.

Carina Siracusa, PT, DPT, WCS, OnCS has been a physiotherapist since 2005. She graduated from Ohio University in 2005 with her doctorate of physical therapy. She started her career as a pediatric physio but soon fell in love with the specialty of pelvic floor physiotherapy. She currently works for a large hospital system in Columbus, Ohio called OhioHealth. She is the primary pelvic floor physiotherapist for the neuro program as well as the transgender health program. She has taught for the American Physical Therapy Association's Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapists since 2010 in their pelvic health curriculum. She has developed courses in both pediatric pelvic health as well as pelvic health for the neurologically involved client and has been teaching these for the last several years. She holds board certifications in both women's health physiotherapy as well as oncology physiotherapy. |
