Esther and Samantha are UK-based physiotherapists. Esther developed the Elastic Therapeutic Skin Approach to Taping (ETT) method and is internationally recognized. She has had many expert roles, including being Chair of the Committee Practice of the IOPTP. Samantha is an international senior tutor in ETT. She has completed her MSc in Neurological Rehabilitation and is doing a PhD in use of taping in paediatrics. The lecture will focus on the background, principles and benefits of the ETT method, the importance of understanding the skin that is being taped and its influence on function, circulation and other areas.

Esther de Ru has been a health profession since 1967. She certified as a physiotherapist in 1977. Hands-on treatments options have always been her passion. The experience of having worked in four different European countries and the many courses she is certified in, have shaped her working knowledge and expertise. She developed the Elastic Therapeutic Skin Approach to Taping courses and has been teaching these courses for colleagues, occupational therapists and speech-language therapists since 2010. As Chair of the Committee Practice of the IOPTP and later as a member of the Wired Collective and as one of the mentors at the Centre of Excellence Online, she has continued on her path of learning and exchanging knowledge internationally. She is known as author of a book on ETT Paediatric Taping, and she has authored a number of articles in peer reviewed journals and many Clinical Notes on the topic of Skin and Taping, and scoliosis treatment. She has presented about these topics at various national and international conferences.
Samantha Payne considers herself a Specialist Children's physiotherapist with clinical experience within NICU, hydrotherapy, specialist schools, mainstream schools, clinics, and homes, she also works with adults MSK and Neurological conditions. Sam is certified in many post-graduate courses including an MSc in Neurological Rehabilitation and is carrying out a PhD with Plymouth University (UK) into the use of taping in paediatrics and hopes to complete it in 2025.Sam has worked in physiotherapy since 2001, her main area of specialism is ETT (Elastic Therapeutic Taping) for which she is an international, senior tutor teaching ETT in Paediatrics, Skin Approach: The Esther de Ru Method; ETTPaed for short. The method taught is aimed at paediatric Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists but is equally applicable to therapists working with adults. The two-day course covers the theory and research of ETT and the types of application, with emphasis on how to apply, manage and remove the tape to minimise risk to the skin.
