You must complete Part A first. Joining details for the Part B live virtual session will not be available until Part A is completed. It may take up to two hours for completion of Part A to register on the system. 

 

Pain Physiotherapy Level 1 - Course summary

The Pain Physiotherapy Level 1 course outlines the key principles of Pain and Pain Management which can be immediately transferred into practice. This course presents this foundational knowledge to support physiotherapists who are new, recently graduated or experienced (across all the different disciplines) and are looking to expand, refresh and better integrate their knowledge in the area of pain physiotherapy.

 

Part B - live virtual session

This live virtual session is Part B of the virtual delivery option for the Pain Physiotherapy Level 1 course. You must attend a live virtual session in order to complete the Pain Physiotherapy Level 1 course.

 

This live virtual session is scheduled to start at 7.00pm AEST (SA & NT – 6.30pm; WA – 5.00pm)

 

Two ways to complete the course: blended or virtual

Learners have two ways of undertaking Pain Physiotherapy Level 1:

  • Blended: online self-paced (Pre-requisite) and attending a face-to-face classroom course (Parts A & B
    or
  • Wholly virtual: online self-paced (Pre-requisite & Part A) and live virtual session (Part B)

 

Important note: if you have completed or wish to undertake the face-to-face classroom course, you are not required to complete the online Part A or Part B.

Wholly virtual pre-requisites and progress: The pre-requisite must be successfully completed before you progress to Part APart A must be successfully completed before you progress to Part B.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of Pain Physiotherapy Level 1, you will be able to:

  • Describe the burden of chronic pain on both society and the individuals living with it
  • Demonstrate an understanding of important pain-related terminology
  • Apply a basic biopsychosocial framework for the assessment and management of pain
  • Use a biopsychosocial clinical reasoning approach as a case presentation methodology and as an educational treatment tool with patients
  • Recognise common pain related conditions
  • Consider the relative appropriateness of different forms of treatment approaches for pain related presentations (such as hands-on treatment and self-management skills)
