An update on recent lateropulsion research and therapy recommendations will be provided by clinical expert Dr Jessica Nolan. This will include the assessment, associated outcomes, neuroanatomy and management of post-stroke lateropulsion.
Dr Jessica Nolan, MACP, is a Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia and an Australian Physiotherapy Association Titled Research Physiotherapist. She completed her PhD focusing on lateropulsion (pushing behaviour) in December, 2023, supported by a Raine Foundation / Western Australian Department of Health Clinician Research Fellowship and continues to progress research focusing on improving outcomes for people with lateropulsion after stroke. Jessica has a clinical background as a stroke rehabilitation physiotherapist, having worked in a public inpatient stroke rehabilitation unit for many years, before undertaking research. She is a current member of the World Stroke Organisation Future Leaders Program, Secretary of the Australia and New Zealand Stroke Organisation Emerging Stroke Clinician Scientist Committee, and a member of the Stroke Foundation Living Guidelines Physiotherapy Working Party.
