This online event will provide information and guidance for physiotherapy students who are interested in pursuing a career as a physiotherapist in a NSW hospital. Students can learn about how the pathways into graduate positions at the hospital, strategies to help them stand out in their application and advice on what to do currently as a physiotherapy student. The event will also include a Q & A with physiotherapists who have experience working in the hospital system.

 

Presenter

Aly Holt is a physiotherapist with experience across a wide range of clinical settings. Most of her physiotherapy work was at John Hunter Hospital, where she gained strong generalist skills across inpatient and outpatient settings, with a strong focus on critical care. She has also spent time working in rural communities including Moree, Narrabri and Taree, which gave her valuable insights into regional healthcare. In her current role as Allied Health Recruitment Coordinator for Hunter New England Health, she continues to draw on her physiotherapy background to support clinicians and help build a strong, capable Allied Health workforce.

Mai-Linh Nguyen is a Level 1/2 rotating physiotherapist at Prince of Wales Hospital. She has a clinical interest in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological physiotherapy, and has gained experience across a wide range of hospital settings including orthopaedics, neuro-rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal outpatient services, cardiology and intensive care. Mai-Linh is currently working in the acute aged care ward where she focuses on falls prevention & complex discharge planning.

Maggie Li is a Level 1/2 rotating physiotherapist at Nepean Hospital. She has a gained experience across a variety of clinical areas including intensive care, cardiorespiratory, orthopaedics, musculoskeletal outpatient services and inpatient rehabilitation, with particular interest in cardiorespiratory and neurological physiotherapy. Maggie is currently working in the neurological and neurosurgical wards with a focus on acute stroke rehabilitation, post-operative treatment and discharge planning.

Lan Thy Nguyen is a senior physiotherapist currently working within public hospital in inpatient setting in NSW. She has experience across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, including previous practice in private hospital environments. She has a background in aged care and rehabilitation and currently works within Older Persons Mental Health and Chronic Care services at Westmead Hospital. Thy has a strong interest in service development and quality improvement projects, alongside a commitment to clinical education and supporting students and early-career clinicians.
