In this session, clinical psychologist Michael Romeo will explore the role of the psychologist in the assessment and treatment of FND, drawing on contemporary models of psychological practice, including the Stress Systems Model, EMDR, and Nocebo-Hypothesis CBT (NH-CBT). Throughout the presentation, he weaves in his own lived experience and recovery journey to illustrate how these models translate into real-world clinical practice and meaningful functional change.
Michael will also discuss how physiotherapists and psychologists can work together to optimise interdisciplinary care and deliver best-practice outcomes for clients with FND.
Michael Romeo is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in the assessment and management of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and brings both clinical expertise and lived experience of the condition.
