Children with vestibular dysfunction and children experiencing dizziness are an underdiagnosed group who can experience difficulty accessing the assessment and rehabilitation they need. We need your help to close the gap.
This is Part 1 (of 2) in a Paediatric Vestibular series.
This lecture aims to help Paediatric physiotherapists feel confident in recognising signs and symptoms of dysfunction, complete a practical screening assessment and know when to refer for further vestibular assessment.

Meredith Cook, APAM
When Meredith graduated, she began working at a private hospital in Sydney where she saw vestibular patients and paediatric patients both as inpatients and outpatients. Since 2015 Meredith has worked at On-Balance Physiotherapy where she has been able to combine her love of both Vestibular Rehabilitation and of Paediatric Physiotherapy and helps patients of all ages experiencing dizziness/vertigo, imbalance, and headaches. Meredith is the Clinical Lead for the On-Balance team and has developed the Paediatric screening and rehabilitation program there.
In particular Meredith is passionate about ensuring it becomes standard practice for all children who are experiencing dizziness or have hearing loss or imbalance to be assessed and treated for vestibular dysfunction they may be experiencing. When she is not working clinically she spends time educating other physiotherapists and medical professionals about paediatric patients who have in the past not had access to the services they've needed.
